Music practice gear for looping
Three things make looping music practice easier: a clip-on tuner, closed-back headphones and a phone stand. Slow loops show up small problems, like a string slightly flat, a bass line you can’t hear or a screen you keep reaching for, and these three fix them without changing how you practise.
A clip-on tuner
A loop at 70% exposes every out-of-tune string. Tune before you start, and again when the loop sounds off.
Not for you if your instrument has a built-in tuner, or you play piano or keyboard.
Closed-back headphones
So you hear the bass line under the guitar, and the room hears less of your fifth attempt.
Not for you if you already practise on headphones you can wear for an hour.
A phone or tablet stand
So the video sits at eye level next to your music stand, and you can tap the loop without putting the instrument down.
Not for you if you practise from a laptop on a desk.
Do I need any of this to loop a video?
No. RepeatWatch is free and works with what you have. Start with the guide: how to learn a song from youtube.
