What grammar do children learn in grades 1–2?
Most children in first and second grade (ages 6–8) learn what a sentence is, capital letters and end punctuation, nouns, verbs and adjectives, plural nouns, contractions and simple compound words. Some lessons here, like adverbs and compound sentences, stretch a little further.
How can repeating a video help with grammar?
Short songs are easy to replay with Repeat one, so a rule like "a noun is a person, place or thing" sticks. For a lesson, loop one example with A–B and pause so your child can find the noun or fix the punctuation first.
Frequently asked questions
Are these videos good for early readers?
Most show words on screen while they are spoken. Slowing to 0.75x gives new readers time to follow the text, and you can pause on an example sentence to read it together.
Can older children use this playlist?
Yes. Many lessons, such as the four types of sentences and capitalization rules, are also useful review for grades 3–5, and the Scratch Garden songs suit children learning English as a new language.
