How does insurance work?
Many people pay a regular premium into a shared pool, and the insurer pays out to those who suffer a covered loss. You usually pay a deductible, or excess, first. Insurance is for losses you could not easily afford yourself, not small costs you can cover from savings.
How do I use RepeatWatch to understand my policy?
A–B loop the explanation of a term you see on your own policy, such as premium, deductible or exclusion. Slow it to 0.75× to take notes, and save sections on keys 1–9 for the types of cover you are comparing.
Frequently asked questions
Which insurance do I need first?
It depends on your country, your job, your family and what you own. Many people start with cover required by law, such as car insurance, then health cover and, if others rely on their income, life insurance. Public schemes differ widely by country.
Is whole life insurance a good investment?
Two Cents and Ben Felix both look at this. Permanent life insurance can suit some situations, but it often costs much more than term cover. Read the fees and terms carefully, and be wary of anyone selling insurance mainly as an investment.
Is this financial or insurance advice?
No. These videos are educational and come from the channels that published them. They are not financial, tax or legal advice. Insurance products and laws differ by country, so for a personal decision consider a qualified, regulated adviser or broker.
