Learning to walk: first steps videos
Quick answer
This playlist pairs walking songs for new walkers, such as Super Simple Songs' "Walking Walking", with Bluey's "Baby Race", an episode about first steps. Grown-ups will find tips from Pathways.org and a pediatric physiotherapist at the end. Use Repeat one for a song your toddler marches to, and the sleep timer to keep screen time short.

When do babies start walking?
Many babies take their first steps somewhere around their first birthday, and plenty walk earlier or later. Every child develops at their own pace. If you have any worries about how your child moves, talk to your child's doctor or health visitor.
How do I use these videos with a new walker?
Play a walking song and walk, stop and sit along with the words while you hold your toddler's hands. Use Repeat one so the song keeps going while they practise, or loop the chorus with A and B. Watch together and keep it short.
Frequently asked questions
Which videos are for parents?
The last part of the list is for grown-ups: short guides from Pathways.org on standing practice, falls and first steps, and videos from pediatric physiotherapist Emma Hubbard on helping a baby walk and on baby walker safety.
Should my baby watch screens while learning to walk?
Pediatric guidance generally recommends very little screen time for babies and toddlers, and watching together when they do. Movement songs work best as a short shared activity, with plenty of floor play and real walking practice around them.
