What is old school gospel?

Old school gospel usually means the traditional and choir gospel of the 1940s to the 1990s, from Mahalia Jackson and Sister Rosetta Tharpe to James Cleveland, the Hawkins family, the Clark Sisters and the Winans.

How can a choir use these recordings to rehearse?

Set an A–B loop around a vamp or harmony section, slow it to 0.75× so each voice part is easier to hear, and repeat it until singers know their line. Then return to normal speed for a full run-through.
