Pre-K rhyming words songs and games
Quick answer
In pre-K, children learn to hear when two words rhyme and to make rhymes of their own. This playlist starts with Jack Hartmann's "The Rhyming Words Game" and Harry Kindergarten's "Do They Rhyme?", then moves to classic nursery rhymes from Super Simple Songs and Scratch Garden. Use Repeat one on a favorite rhyme.

What should a pre-K child be able to do after this unit?
By the end, most children can tell whether two words rhyme, such as cat and hat, and say a new word that rhymes with one you give them. Grade levels vary by country and school; pre-K here means ages 4–5.
How can RepeatWatch help with rhyming practice?
Choose Repeat one for a rhyming song your child likes, or drag A and B around one rhyming pair so it plays again. Slow it to 0.75× to give time to answer, save game rounds on keys 1–9, and set Stop after N loops to keep sessions short.
Frequently asked questions
Why do nursery rhymes help with reading?
Rhyming is part of phonological awareness, which means hearing the sounds inside words. Nursery rhymes repeat the same ending sounds again and again, so children start to notice them before they learn letters.
Is this playlist only for pre-K?
It introduces rhyming for ages 3–5 and also works as review in kindergarten (ages 5–6). For the next step, see our phonics songs playlist, which moves from rhymes to letter sounds and blending.
