Which shapes do toddlers usually learn first?

Circles, squares and triangles usually come first, then rectangles, ovals, stars and hearts. Most songs here start with those simple shapes, and some add ovals, hearts and diamonds for older preschoolers.

How do I help my child spot shapes after the song?

Pause after a verse and look for that shape around the room: a clock, a window, a slice of toast. Use an A–B loop to replay one shape's verse while you search, so the song keeps the game going.
