What are sight words?

Sight words are common words such as the, and, is and you that children learn to recognize at a glance. Many cannot be sounded out easily, so seeing and saying them many times helps them become automatic when reading.

How do I use the Dolch Sight Word Review series?

Each Jack Hartmann video covers ten words in order, from 1–10 up to 211–220. Pick the video with this week's words, choose Repeat one, and move on to the next video once your child reads them all without help.

Can I give my child time to read each word first?

Yes. Slow the video to 0.75× in the Practice tab, or drag A and B around a short stretch so the same few words repeat while your child reads them aloud before the video does.
