How do I practise English listening with A–B loops?

Listen once without stopping. Then set A and B around a sentence you could not follow and let it repeat. Lower the speed to 0.75x until you catch every word, then return to normal speed and listen again.

What is shadowing and how do I do it here?

Shadowing means speaking along with the recording, copying the rhythm and sounds a moment behind the speaker. Loop one short sentence, repeat it out loud several times, and speed it back up once you can keep pace.

Frequently asked questions

Which videos are best for beginners?

Start with BBC Learning English's Real Easy English and 6 Minute English episodes, which are short and clearly spoken. Move on to the longer English with Lucy and Vanessa lessons when you feel ready.

Can I turn on subtitles?

Videos play in YouTube's player, so you can use YouTube's own captions where the channel provides them. Try listening without subtitles first, then check them on the sentences you loop.
