It introduces facts versus opinions, forming an opinion, writing an opinion statement, giving reasons and evidence, linking words such as because and for example, and writing a closing. By the end a child should write a paragraph that states an opinion with two reasons and a conclusion.
How does RepeatWatch help with writing lessons?
Set an A–B loop on one step, such as the opinion statement, while your child writes their own. Slow a fast explanation to 0.75×, save each step of the paragraph on keys 1–9, and use Stop after N loops to keep sessions short.
Frequently asked questions
What grade learns opinion writing?
In the US, children start opinion writing in kindergarten to 2nd grade, and in 3rd grade (ages 8–9) they add several reasons, linking words and a concluding statement. Grade levels vary by country and school, so start where your child is.
