What does this 3rd grade rounding unit cover?
It introduces rounding as finding the closest ten or hundred, shows it on a number line, then uses the digit to the right to decide whether to round up or down. A child should round 47 to 50 and 362 to 400 and explain why.
How does RepeatWatch help with rounding?
Set an A–B loop on one number line example and pause before the answer. Slow the explanation to 0.75×, save the nearest 10 and nearest 100 lessons on keys 1–9, put the rounding song on Repeat one, and use Stop after N loops.
Frequently asked questions
Why is this playlist shorter than the others?
Rounding to 10 and 100 is a narrow skill, and we only kept clear lessons at the right level. Rounding to 1,000 and beyond is left for 4th grade rather than padding the list.
When do children learn rounding?
In the US, rounding to the nearest 10 or 100 is usually taught in 3rd grade (ages 8–9) and used for estimating. Larger place values follow in 4th grade. Grade levels vary by country and school.
