7th grade genetics and heredity videos
Quick answer
This 7th grade genetics playlist (ages 12–13) covers DNA, genes and chromosomes, how traits pass from parents to offspring, Mendel's experiments, alleles and Punnett squares, with Amoeba Sisters, Khan Academy's "Worked examples: Punnett squares" and TED-Ed. Play all on repeat, or loop one Punnett square example step by step.

What should a 7th grader know about genetics?
In 7th grade, students learn that genes are sections of DNA on chromosomes and that offspring inherit one allele from each parent. After this unit they can explain dominant and recessive traits and use a Punnett square to predict offspring. Grade levels vary by country and school.
How can looping help with Punnett squares?
Set an A–B loop on one cross in Khan Academy's "Worked examples: Punnett squares". Watch it, pause, fill in the same square on paper, then replay the loop to check. At 0.75× there is time to follow where each allele goes.
Frequently asked questions
How is the genetics playlist ordered?
It starts with inherited traits and what DNA is, then chromosomes, genes and reproduction. Mendel's pea plants lead into alleles and Punnett squares, and it ends with worked examples, other inheritance patterns and Amoeba Sisters' genetics review videos.
Can I save the parts I need to review?
Yes. Save the definitions of genotype and phenotype, or one Punnett square example, as A–B sections on the number keys 1–9. Use Stop after N loops so a short review ends on its own.
