7th grade scale drawings
Quick answer
In 7th grade (ages 12–13), students use scale factors to read and make scale drawings, maps and floor plans. This playlist starts with Khan Academy's "Exploring scale copies", adds FuseSchool's "Maps and Scale drawings", and ends with comparing scales and scale factors and area. Repeat a single word problem with an A–B loop.

What should a 7th grader be able to do after this unit?
Identify scaled copies and their scale factor, use a scale to find actual lengths and areas from a drawing or map, make a scale drawing, rewrite a scale with or without units, and compare drawings made at different scales.
Why use an A–B loop on scale drawing videos?
Most of these lessons are short worked examples. Loop the step where a teacher multiplies or divides by the scale factor, slow it to 0.75× if needed, and save each example on keys 1–9. Stop after N loops keeps it short.
Frequently asked questions
Why is this playlist mostly Khan Academy?
Scale drawings is a narrow unit, and few established channels make lessons on it. Khan Academy's 7th grade course covers it most fully, so most videos come from there, with FuseSchool adding maps and scale factors.
Is this always a 7th grade topic?
Grade levels vary by country and school. In the US, scale drawings are usually covered in 7th grade (ages 12–13), alongside proportional relationships. Some schools teach maps and scale earlier.
