Science experiments for kids to try at home
Quick answer
Hands-on experiments for grades 3–5 (ages 8–11), mostly from Science Max: baking soda volcanoes, balloon-powered cars, pasta bridges, stomp rockets and giant bubbles, plus SciShow Kids' unpoppable bubbles. Loop the build steps with A–B and slow them to 0.75x while you work, or Play all on repeat to pick the next project.

Are these experiments safe to do at home?
We chose experiments that use everyday materials, with no fire or strong chemicals. Always do them with an adult helping: let an adult handle scissors, craft knives or glue guns, follow each video’s safety notes, and keep magnets and balloons away from little ones.
How does looping help while building?
Set A and B around one build step and it replays while your hands are busy, so you are not scrubbing back and forth. Slow it to 0.75x, and save each step on keys 1–9 to jump between them.
Frequently asked questions
What materials will we need?
Mostly household items: baking soda, vinegar, balloons, cardboard, straws, paper, pasta, tape and string. A few builds use magnets or a small motor and battery, which need closer adult supervision.
How is this different from the other science playlist?
Science videos for kids explains science ideas for grades 1–2. This playlist is for doing: step-by-step builds and experiments for grades 3–5, each showing what to make and why it works.
