Frequently asked questions
Where should I start?
Begin with the TED talks on why business in Africa is hard and the myths around it, then the business plan masterclass. Finish with founder profiles from BBC News Africa and Africa's Business Heroes, which show those ideas in practice.
Do business rules differ across African countries?
Yes. Registration, licences, taxes and import rules differ between countries and sometimes cities. Check your national business registry and tax authority, and look for local programmes, incubators and chambers of commerce that help new founders.
Is this legal, tax or financial advice?
No. These videos are educational and reflect the experience of the speakers. They are not legal, tax or financial advice. Speak to a qualified local adviser before registering a company, borrowing money or applying for funding.
