Area, perimeter and volume: grades 6–7
Quick answer
This geometry playlist for grades 6–7 (ages 11–13) covers perimeter, area of rectangles, triangles, trapezoids and circles, composite shapes, volume and surface area of prisms, with lessons from Math Antics, Math with Mr. J, Khan Academy and FuseSchool. Loop one worked example with A–B at 0.75× and repeat it while practicing.

How does an A–B loop help with area and volume formulas?
Loop the part where the teacher picks out the base and height, plugs them into the formula and works out the answer. Repeating that one example helps a student see which measurement goes where before trying the same kind of shape on their own.
When is 0.75× speed useful in geometry lessons?
Slow down for composite shapes and surface area, where a teacher splits a figure into parts and adds them up quickly. At 0.75× there is time to sketch each part and write each area on paper alongside the video.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between area, perimeter and volume?
Perimeter is the distance around a flat shape, area is the space inside it in square units, and volume is the space inside a 3D shape in cubic units. Math with Mr. J's "Perimeter, Area, and Volume Explained" compares all three.
Can I limit how long a student watches?
Yes. Set Stop after a few loops on a single example, or use the sleep timer to end a playlist session after 15 or 30 minutes, so practice time stays focused.
