How does a clothing brand make money?
A brand designs clothes, has them made by its own workshop or a factory, then sells them for more than the full cost of fabric, trims, labour, shipping and marketing. Many start with a small range sold online or at markets, and some later sell wholesale to shops.
How do I use RepeatWatch to learn from these videos?
Treat Play all on repeat as a course. Slow a founder interview to 0.75× when you take notes, or speed a talk you are reviewing to 1.5×. Save the chapters of the long Shopify Masters episodes on keys 1–9, and A–B loop the part where a founder explains pricing or finding a factory.
Frequently asked questions
What should I learn first?
Start with the four numbered #BoFEducation lessons: whether you really want a fashion business, the business plan, financing and brand awareness. Then watch the Accounting Stuff gross margin video, because pricing that covers every cost is where many small clothing brands struggle.
Do I need my own factory?
No. Many brands start by sewing small batches themselves or using a local workshop, then move to a factory once orders are steady. Factories often ask for minimum order quantities, so ask about samples, minimums and lead times before you commit money.
Is this legal, tax or financial advice?
No. These videos are educational and come from the channels that published them. Trademarks, labelling rules, import duties and taxes differ by country, so check local regulations and talk to an accountant or lawyer before you register a brand name or sign with a factory.
