How do songs help kids learn the continents?
A tune gives a list of names a fixed order, so it is easier to recall. Set Repeat one on the continents or oceans song for a few plays, then pause and ask your child to point to each one on a map or globe.
What order should we watch these in?
Start with the songs and the seven-continents overviews, then the oceans, then one video per continent from Learn Bright and KLT. Finish with maps, rivers, lakes and the poles. Save each continent on keys 1–9 to jump back during a quiz.
Frequently asked questions
What are the seven continents and five oceans?
The continents are Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia (often taught as part of Oceania), Europe, North America and South America. The oceans are the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern and Arctic. Some countries teach six continents, so check what your school uses.
How can I keep screen time short?
Watch one song and one continent video, then draw or label a map together. Stop after a set number of loops, or use the sleep timer to end playback. Videos play in YouTube's player, so YouTube may show ads.
