How do real estate agents make money?
Agents are usually paid a commission when a sale or rental closes, shared with their brokerage. Many are self-employed, so they pay their own marketing, licence and business costs, and income can be uneven. How commissions are set and who pays them varies by country and has recently changed in the US.
What do I need to become an agent?
Many places require a pre-licensing course, an exam and working under a licensed broker. Others have different systems or no licence at all. Check the rules with your local real estate regulator, then learn agency duties, contracts, pricing with comparable sales and how to find clients.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use these videos to study for a licensing exam?
They help with core concepts, but exams test local law, so use your official course too. Loop a hard section such as dual agency with an A–B loop, and slow it to 0.75× while you write your own notes.
Is this legal or financial advice?
No. The videos are educational and many describe US practice. Agency law, licensing and commission rules differ by country and state, so confirm everything with your regulator, broker or a qualified lawyer.
