Sales skills for founders and small businesses
Quick answer
This playlist teaches selling for people who never trained in sales. Y Combinator covers finding first customers, cold emails and pricing, HubSpot and Xero show calls, proposals and quotes, and HBR and Stanford GSB teach persuasion and negotiation. Play all on repeat, or A–B loop a script and practise it out loud until it feels natural.

What does good selling look like for a small business?
Good selling is mostly listening. You find people with a real problem, ask questions, explain clearly how you help, agree a fair price and follow up. It is a skill anyone can practise, and owners usually make the first sales themselves before hiring anyone to sell.
How do I practise sales with RepeatWatch?
A–B loop one script, a cold-call opening or a negotiation example, and say it along with the speaker until you can do it without the video. Slow it to 0.75× to catch the exact words, and save the best examples on keys 1–9 for a quick refresher before calls.
Frequently asked questions
I am shy. Can I still learn to sell?
Yes. Several speakers here describe themselves as reluctant salespeople. Practise with friends, prepare questions in advance and focus on understanding the customer rather than pushing. Jia Jiang's talk on rejection shows how practice makes hearing no easier.
Are cold calls and emails allowed everywhere?
No. Rules on unsolicited calls, emails and messages differ by country, especially for selling to consumers. Check local regulations and respect opt-out requests before contacting people who have not asked to hear from you.
Is this legal, tax or financial advice?
No. These videos are educational and come from the channels that published them. They are not legal, tax or financial advice for your situation. Check contracts, pricing terms and consumer law where you sell before you close deals.
