How does a poultry business make money?
Broiler farms buy day-old chicks, grow them to market weight and sell the birds, so profit depends on feed costs, mortality and a ready buyer. Layer farms sell eggs over many months. Local or improved village chickens cost less to keep. Many farmers start with a small batch and keep careful records before expanding.
How do I use RepeatWatch to learn poultry farming?
Play all on repeat works like a course. Slow a lesson to 0.75× to take notes on a feed ration or a vaccination schedule, and A–B loop the part on brooding temperatures until you know it. Save chapters of the long Shamba Shape Up episodes on keys 1–9 to jump straight to the poultry segment.
Frequently asked questions
Should I start with broilers, layers or local chickens?
Broilers return money in weeks but need steady feed and a buyer lined up. Layers take months before the first egg and run longer. Improved local chickens are hardier and cheaper to feed. Watch the "Why invest in local poultry" and broiler episodes, then visit farms and buyers near you.
Do the rules for selling eggs and chicken differ by country?
Yes. Licences, vaccination rules, egg grading and meat processing laws vary by country and region. The Texas A&M egg sales video describes US rules only, so check with your local agriculture office or veterinary service before you sell.
Is this legal, tax or financial advice?
No. These videos are educational and come from the channels that published them. They are not legal, tax, veterinary or financial advice for your farm. Use them to learn, then talk to a local extension officer, vet or accountant before you invest.
